EMLE in a nutshell

EMLE is a joint programme that covers one academic year and is subdivided into three terms. You will study at renowned universities in an international and stimulating setting. The programme is focused on the economic analysis of law in general, followed by specialised courses in three different tracks you can opt for. You will finish the academic year by writing a thesis. Here you can take a look at the key facts of EMLE again.

The EMLE programme allows students the unique chance to study at least at two different universities, with the option of attending even a third European or a non-European university. This creates an international framework through the universities, scholars and lecturers, and of course, the students themselves. EMLE students come from more than 30 different countries, which creates a global working atmosphere while providing constant opportunities to improve social skills and cultural competencies.

Because of its experience lauded as “an outstanding educational concept” and its level of academic excellence EMLE has been recognized for the fourth time by the EACEA of the European Commission as Erasmus Mundus:Erasmus+ Master’s programme

EMLE - One Programme - Three Tracks

EMLE offers a track system.

The track system allows you to specialise on a topic, starting in term two. In the first term all universities teach the same courses. In the second term, three courses are the same for all universities, and each university offers two courses that are specific for this university. Your third term university offers another two specialized courses, and you will also write your thesis here on a topic that fits within the track. You can read everything about the tracks here.

You can either choose to follow one of three different specilisation tracks in the EMLE programme:

  • ‘Economic Analysis of Markets, Corporations & Regulators track’ (MCR),
  • ‘Economic Analysis of Public & International Law track’ (PIL), and
  • ‘Economic Analysis of Innovation and Intellectual Property track’ (IP).

Or you can choose to study a

  • 'Non-specialised, generalised EMLE' (No track)

The EMLE consortium consists of the Universities of:

  • Aix-Marseille (Aix en Provence, France)
  • Arizona (USA)
  • Ghent (Belgium)
  • Haifa (Israel)
  • Hamburg (Germany)
  • Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (Mumbai, India)
  • LUMSA (Rome, Italy)
  • Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain)
